New Chapter

This week marks a new chapter for me creatively, professionally and personally. It’s the week I finished my first feature-length film and a story that I’m proud to get out to the world.
HAPTIC marks a milestone in charting a path forward in creating films and in the types of stories I want to tell. As a queer person feeling the weight of the shift in opinions toward the greater LGBTQ+ community, I feel that our stories need to continue to be told often, out loud and unapologetically.
When I started down this path and in the process of learning and refining my craft — something that continues and will continue as I progress — I was initially frustrated by the adage “write what you know.” With this film, I finally feel like I understand it. Embracing that idea does not confine you to a box. It gives you a pedestal on which to tell stories that need to be told and may help others feel seen.
More to come as I relaunch this blog into a Director’s Journal. There are so many people with great stories to tell. My hope is that by sharing my path, it will help others move their stories forward.
